Provide a framework for conducting SWOT analysis specific to construction companies to inform strategic planning and decision-making.

Conducting a SWOT Analysis​

Step 1: Gather the Right People​

Include:

  • Owner(s)/CEO
  • Key executives
  • Respected long-term employees
  • Consider outside facilitator

Ideal group size: 5-10 people

Step 2: Gather Data First​

Before the session, collect:

  • Financial performance data
  • Win rate and backlog trends
  • Customer satisfaction data
  • Employee survey results
  • Competitor information
  • Industry trends
  • Market data

Step 3: Facilitate Brainstorming​

Rules:

  • No wrong answers during brainstorm
  • Build on others' ideas
  • Be honest, even if uncomfortable
  • Focus on facts, not opinions when possible
  • Limit initial list to most important items
