Purpose
Ensure all new employees receive consistent orientation covering safety, company policies, and job-specific requirements before beginning work.
Pre-Start Requirements (Before First Day)
HR/Admin Tasks
- Background check completed (if required)
- Drug screening completed (if required)
- Employment eligibility verified (I-9/E-Verify)
- Tax forms completed (W-4, state forms)
- Direct deposit form completed
- Emergency contact form collected
- Employee handbook acknowledgment signed
- Photo ID and badge issued
- Benefits enrollment scheduled
Documentation Collected
- Driver's license copy (if driving required)
- Social Security card copy
- Certifications/licenses (trade-specific)
- OSHA 10/30 card (if applicable)
- Union cards (if applicable)
Day 1 Orientation
Safety Orientation (MANDATORY - 2-4 hours)

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
- Hazard communication (HazCom/GHS)
- Incident and near-miss reporting
- First aid kit and AED locations
- Site-specific hazards (project-based)

- Company history and values
- Organizational structure
- Key personnel introductions
- Office/shop tour
- Break room, parking, facilities
HR/Admin (30 minutes)
- Timesheet procedures explained
- Pay schedule and payday
- Time-off request process
- Benefits overview appointment scheduled
- Company communication tools (email, app, etc.)
IT/Equipment (30 minutes)
- Email account setup
- Company phone/tablet issued (if applicable)
- App logins provided (BLDR Pro, etc.)
- Equipment checkout procedure
- Company vehicle policy (if applicable)
Week 1 Training
Job-Specific Training
- Review job description and expectations
- Introduction to immediate supervisor
- Introduction to team members
- Tour of current projects (if field)
- Department-specific procedures reviewed
Documentation Training
- Daily report requirements
- Photo documentation standards
- RFI/Submittal process (if applicable)
- Change order awareness

Safety Follow-Up

30-Day Check-In
