Red Flagsโ€‹

Watch for these warning signs:

  • Bid too low - May indicate errors or corner-cutting
  • No references - Can't verify past work
  • Unrealistic schedule - May not be achievable
  • Missing information - Incomplete bid
  • Poor communication - May indicate problems

Best Practicesโ€‹

  1. Compare apples to apples - Ensure bids include same scope
  2. Check qualifications - Verify experience and capacity
  3. Contact references - Call past clients
  4. Consider value - Lowest price isn't always best value
  5. Document decision - Keep records of evaluation

Don't Just Pick Lowest

The lowest bid isn't always the best value. Consider experience, quality, schedule, and reliability.
