Grade Calculations

Percent Grade = (Rise ÷ Run) × 100
Rise = Run × (Percent ÷ 100)
Run = Rise ÷ (Percent ÷ 100)

Example: 2% grade over 100 feet = 2 foot rise

Stair Formula

Number of Risers = Total Rise ÷ Riser Height
Number of Treads = Risers - 1
Total Run = Number of Treads × Tread Depth

Comfort Formula: Riser + Tread = 17" to 18"


Circle & Arc Calculations

Circumference = π × Diameter = 2 × π × Radius
Diameter = Circumference ÷ π
Radius = Diameter ÷ 2

π = 3.14159

Arc Length

Arc Length = (Angle ÷ 360) × Circumference

Pythagorean Theorem

a² + b² = c²
c = √(a² + b²)
